Marty Mornhinweg

i think this is a non-issue. despite the bleating of that moron angelo cataldi, i think it was clear when they hired mornhinweg last season that he was here to guard against the eventual departure of childress.

has andy ever hired a bad coach? i can't think of one. why would he hire one now in his time of need?

what evidence does cataldi have that mornhinweg isn't a good coach? angelo cataldi is a schmuck. let me repeat, angelo cataldi is a schmuck. if it's coming out of his mouth, it's almost a guarantee that it is wrong. opinion or not, he has been wrong *WAAAAY* more than he has been right.

angelo cataldi is an arrogant jackass who only cares about his own ratings. if everyone stops listening to him, we can get him off the air.

I stopped listening to 610 in October. I am convinced that that channel increased my negativity. It's not about sports, it's about "entertainment" and grabbing the emotion of this crazy town and running with it. This town is fanatical about sports, but not intelligent about them. That is the difference between a NYer and a Philly guy. If the Eagles lose, it's a personal loss. I am a Philly guy, so I am saying that I am also like that. The New York fans that I met, tend to be more objective about things and can have relatively intelligent sports conversations.....which brings me to my next segueway. 610 is not an intelligent sports channel. Example...Howard Eskin. This bootlick knows nothing about sports. It is great when people call up and propose trades with Howard and he agrees with them after a dramatic pause...because he doesn't know who the hell they are.

Jody Mac, on the other hand, is an objective sports minded guy. He is a fat guy that sits in front of the tube and watches sports. Howard is too busy boot licking and regurgitating what he hears. If you want to hear what Billy King is thinking, listen to Howard because he heard it, then regurgitated it like it was his own.

Don't listen to 610. We have no idea what Mohrninweg is about. Maybe Andy will let him call the offense and not interfere and worry about time management and personnel.

While I think it would be great if big red let Marty handle more play calling and especially time mgm't, I doubt it will happen. I don't listen or watch Cataldi. I saw in 1 minute that he was a white trash moron.

I honestly think that Bobby Clarke doesn't WANT to bring the cup back to Philly. Sort of a self serving emotional "if I bring the cup back to Philly, then people will realize that players better than me exist and I can't have people thinking that..."

i think that's your insecurity talking. new york fans and philadelphia fans are two sides of the same coin (i would lump boston fans in there as well). i've lived in all three cities and i would say the mentality and love of their teams are very similar in all three places. imo, the real difference is not in the quality or character of the fans, but in the quality of the teams we happen to root for (which is really just bad luck for us).

i agree with you. there is no other reason why clarke would have signed a washed up john vanbiesbrouck over signing an in his prime curtis joseph (who publicly stated he would take less money to play here). joseph = cup and ultimately would have moved lindros toward eclipsing clarke as the "all-time greatest flyer", something bobby clarke could never allow.

Not my insecurity, but thanks for the insult, tool. Just kidding. I think what I am getting at is I listen to WIP and hear the nimrods that call in with:
a. unbelievable one way/homer trade proposals
b. calling for Andy's head after a bad season (like I did, self-indictment)
c. like clockwork, tooling on the Eagles when they lose, praising them till the cows come how when they win
d. play calling in football....this drives me crazy....being an offensive coordinator is an art....and the play calling is always "genius"...
e. assuming that athletes can make unbelievable feats of human athleticism on every play...for example running across the middle and stopping on a dime to catch a Donovan pass that is 5 yards behind you.
f. Totally over-valuing some of the talent that we have...which kind of ties in with the ridiculous trade proposals that I hear.

Come on, do you guys really think that Clarke wants to purposely not win? I agree that some of the things he has done in the past have been suspect, however he is the only GM in town that I think year in and year out tries to win a Cup.

The same can be said of the Eagles if you want to call a spade a spade (which is one of the reasons that I am so irate this year)...
how can you go into a season with the McNabb/T.O. situation unresolved? How can you not actively pursue a better back when Buckhalter went down? How can you not advise a pro athlete to not get appropriate medical attention when it is obvious that he is totally hobbled and not 100% (McNabb, blah blah best chance to win)...how can you say that receiver is not that important (although I agree that you don't need to have a total stud #1), and cart out Thrash and Stinkston year in and year out? How can you go into this season with those OLBs? How can you draft Matt McCoy in round #2? Even though I think Kiper is a fraud, he didn't even have McCoy on his board.

ha. thanks, no insult intended only that there is an inferiority complex somehow bred by the lack of success of our sports teams that is also fed by the print media (see frank fitzpatrick in particular). people use sports too much as an indicator of the quality of a city and/or population, when it is unrelated to either of those things.

i agree that the callers to WIP tend to be on the moronic side, but then again, doesn't that station drive away the thinking members of the populace? imo, callers to WIP likely do not represent the typical eagles fan.

Iggles just signed Timmy Chang. Bye-bye Andy Hall.

Probably not, but who knows. Andy Hall went to Delaware, which means that he has charisma, skillz, knows many things about many things, and is unbelievable athlete. Timmy Chang was allocated to NFL Europe. I can't figure out why Chang was not drafted last year. He must be slow or not have the NFL arm. He was prodigious at Hawaii. Threw all over the place and has some NCAA passing records. I saw him on TV a couple of times and June Jones threw on almost every play. Never figured out why he was never drafted and cut by Arizona. Whatever the case, it is tough to get excited by February signings or allocations.
