AI Trade Goal

the goal of trading AI should be to maximize the chances of selecting greg oden in next year's draft. i don't care what mix of garbage players and/or contracts the sixers have to take back. the goal of this trade is simple: get the best draft pick(s) possible.

this is supposed to be the best draft for big men in 10 years. get picks.

Great article on ESPN2 by Simmons on AI.

Yeah, I liked that article too. I completely agree with him that there is a generational gap between the AI haters and in this town who realize he's a top 3 all-time Sixer. It sucks to see him go, even though there's been no way around it for a few years.

I lay this entirely at the feet of Billy King, the worst GM I've ever seen in Philly. Worse than Wade, more blindsided than Clarke. What has this guy ever done right?

At least this is the best big men draft in a decade. Even if we lose out on Oden, there's Noah, probably McRoberts and Hansbrough, and another huge guy from China.

OK. Now I don't follow basketball, but what gaurantee do we eveb have that King would even pick one of those big guys even if he does stumble into a top 5 pick?

sorry for the period of inactivity -- recovering from surgery.

phil - agree. good article by simmons.

behan - i hope it's oden. hansbrough is a good college player but i don't think he'll be anything special as a pro. also, i think noah is probably going to have a pro career similar to marcus camby.

Hope everything's healing well, Mean Guy.

Just heard Jaws say this on SportCenter regarding his "bold playoff prediction": Eagles will run the table and go deep into the playoffs this year. While I disagree with him, I love this guy.

with A.I. on the way out, why the hell would I even bother watching the pathetic Sixers play?

Wow, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this game....who would have thought, after the Indy game, that the Birds would be playing important games on Christmas and New Year's Eve? First let me say, there is no controversy in my eyes....Garcia, however, is playing good football and is doing what a 36-year-old, back-up veteran QB does....doesn't let the season go down the crapper....I think that the Scrapple-gang kind of started the ball rolling with our presence at the Carolina game and that has led the Eagles into playing some decent NFC football. Receivers are catching the ball, the offensive line is opening holes, Westbrook is playing like an MVP, and the defense didn't kill them. As a matter of fact, the defense made some plays. Who's kidding who, though....without Eagles killers Strahan and Toomer, that is a different team....and Coughlin should be fired for not offering a steady does of Tiki and Jacobs.

This is why you never don't root for a team to fight....winning is contagious. As sad as it is...right now this team, with the way they are playing, could make the play-offs and maybe even make some noise.....I don't know about everyone, but there isn't a whole lot in the NFC that really beats up the Birds....as a matter of fact, I think that last thing the Bears want to see is this wounded bird come into Chi-town. I actually don't think it's a great match up for them. They don't have a great running game and an erratic, flusterable QB...the Eagles offense can make some plays and move the ball, plus they have begun playing like they are on a mission. Plus, the offense really hasn't skipped a beat and I honestly think that we are better than the Saints, honestly....I don't love them. Dallas, beatable....Seahawks...suck. Giants, I wouldn't want to play them again, and you know that they will have Strahan back (maybe)....let's just enjoy this surprising ride.

I think the Mean Guy needs to redo his problems as Team Chemistry clearly is not an issue. Ditto the JJ criticisms. I can't remember the last time I saw that many effective blitzes out of him. Did anyone else notice that the sack where Tiki missed a block up the middle the play immediately after the announcers were praising him for his blitz pickup?

And maybe Reid's hands off approach is just what this team needed. I am trying VERY hard not to get sucked in, but Garcia, Dawkins, Westbrook, and even LJ for crying out loud are making it very difficult.
