This is great....more hot stove talk....okay, Jim Beam Gillick, now what do you do? You have the NL MVP in your line-up and you need to have pitchers throw to him and fear the batter behind him....time is yours
Wow, as it stands now, do you bat Howard 3 and Utley 4?? Can you honestly cart Burrell out there and expect us not to waffle? Do you sign Piazza?
Personnally, it goes without saying that the Soriano deal is ludicrous and I am glad that the Phillies didn't partake...but now you really need to bear down and get some arms and a threat to bat behind Howard. Is that threat Utley? Is it Burrell? What to do? Trade? Who for who?.....you win with pitching, so if there is a serious attempt to upgrade, good. I don't know if I am okay with Burrell at 5, though. I still think that you need a big bat (not Soriano big) so Ryan can occasionally see a strike. Ben...time is yours.
It really should not be that difficult to find a five hitter. Couple of things I'd look for.
-Less than 100Ks
-OBP over .350
-Avg. >.280
-60+ Extra Base Hits
That's not asking a lot, you just need a guy that won't kill you. Oh wait, we had a guy like that and its Abreu (Did strike out a bit more)!!!!!!!!!!
That trade was still an abomination, Gillick or not.

Johnny Estrada gone. Apparently this team is going to sit on their asses, sign nobodies, pocket their Abreu savings, and do nothing to get better while raising ticket prices.
The Phils sucks and will never EVER win a damned meaningful game with this leadership regime.

Sorry guys,
I'm temporarily homeless and computerless, so I"ll save my baseball hotstove for when I get resettled.
