The People's Champion

who decided that phil mickelson is the "people's champion"? certainly not "the people". every poll i've ever seen shows that people prefer tiger woods somewhere around 70%/30%. where did this notion originate? did phil declare himself the "people's champion" a la the rock of wwe fame?

actual quote today from my three year old daughter: "we don't like mickelson. he's fat."

2 words sum up Phil-man boobs. Tiger just bitch slaps this playdough carved stiff every time they go head to head. This weekend sure was fun for us Tiger fans.

El tigre is good! I think Phil got the rap when he played at Beth Page Black and came in second.

That's funny about your daughter. I can't wait to teach my son stuff like "Run the ball you Fat Fock!" and "Call it both ways, ref!" before he turns 3.

it's scary what they pick up actually.

i was watching the british open and said that we were rooting for tiger and that we didn't like mickelson. that's it. she's taken that and run with it. she also overheard me making fun of mickelson and how fat he is. now when she sees him on tv she says stuff like:

- we don't like mickelson. he's fat.

- no tv! get mickelson off. he's bad.

- we like tiger. he's good.

- daddy, who's that? (that's billy andrade.) is he good? (he's ok. we don't mind billy andrade.) ok. hi billy andrade.

you'll have a blast. it's funny, but also scary how little margin for error you have around them. i can't slip anything past her now.

Priceless stuff, Pete. Trust me, it only gets funnier as the kids develop their level of sophistication. I can't believe some of the stuff my son comes up with now (just turned 7).

By the way,

I thought Freddie Mitchell was the "People's Camp," and I think you're overlooking the obvious with respect to why the announcers give Phil his unearned due.

you're probably right. tiger is so ubiquitous these days that it's easy to forget that just a few years ago he wouldn't have even been allowed to work at augusta let alone own it.

Funny, I remember it as the People's Chump. Where's he playing WR this year? Oh, that's right - no where.
