Joyner on Eagles D-Line

kc joyner during an espn chat:
E (Philly): Hey KC, the D-line rotation for the Eagles will be 8 strong (provided they stay healthy). With this and the caliber players that they have, I feel as though the line can be as Dominant as the Panthers or Falcons if not the most Dominant line in the league...What do you think?

SportsNation KC Joyner: (5:01 PM ET ) I couldn't agree more. The Eagles are very good at rotating their D linemen in and out. Trent Cole and Mike Patterson could be Pro Bowlers this year. Sam Rayburn may be one of the best backup DTs in the NFL.
hope he's right because our d-line got pretty well handled by the ravens o-line tonight.

Is anyone else really discouraged by this shitfight of an Eagles game tonight? Except for a pass interference and a lucky shovel pass, the Birds don't budge the ball on offense all night. The horizontal passing game is in full effect as Donovan looks...and looks...and looks only to dump off to an RB for 2 yards. The first string D line also got pushed around and Ogden didn't even play. They have no LB on the entire team who can run or make plays in space-has Trotter ever looked slower? Their backup RB absolutely suck, their second string O line can't move anyone, Koy Detmer plays like a 10 minute guy despite being a 10 year guy. Yuck. Then I flip over to Fox and watch a Giants juggernaut running roughshod over KC. That's 2 double digit losses. Yikes guys. I said 8-8. I stand by 8-8. I like their D line but no LB, no WR, and no RB equals so-so output.

well, i'm thinking that tonight showed as much about the ravens as the eagles. also, as bad as you make the game sound, remember that the birds went into the half with a 10-3 lead having played far from their 'a' game.

kc chiefs suck. that team will go 6-10 and anyone who drafts larry johnson first in their fantasy draft will rue the day. they have no offensive line and that defense is still I-AA quality.

Good call Pete. KC does suck and Herm Edwards is a horrible coach. I was just irate with the pathetic play of the 2nd team O line and it tainted everything for me. When lines go bad, I, as an ex lineman, become irrational and furious. The Birds have a good squad, Baltimore is actually going to be pretty good. However, at least give me the point that their LB are very weak right now. McCoy runs around a lot, but he doesn't play well in space yet. he may learn, but he runs by too many plays right now. Trotter looks like he's playing on borrowed time, Dhani continues to suck like Linda Lovelace, and depth is an issue. Gaither might be good at some point, but there is a lot of room for ugliness between the front and back four right now. I am very nervouse that running and short passing teams-like the Ravens-will just blow them up and down the field and wear them down.
Hope I'm wrong.

no, you're definitely right about the LBs. they stink. as always, JJ doesn't seem to have as much of a problem with that as we fans do.

Bumble,

Excellent use of "play well in space" (which is one of my all time favorite football terms), but an even better metaphoric deep throat image. I appeciate good writing. The recaps I've read have been far more entertaining than the dreck I watched last night.
