Eli Opinions

thanks to dave barr for pointing me to this article about eli manning written by kc joyner ("the football scientist"). kc pretty much backs up everything i've ever written about young eli the over-hyped.

in addition to the performance issues with eli's game, kc notes similar demeanor and personality flaws to the ones i've mentioned from time to time.

The other common theme in the game notes is Manning's approach to the game. I don't know that this is the case, but I keep getting the sense that something is really not right between Manning and more than a few of his teammates.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin described Manning's demeanor as very flat and said Manning lets nothing bother him. Other people have characterized Manning as placid and calm. It goes unsaid by nearly every analyst, but I will bet there are some players on the Giants who might read his even tone as nonchalance or immaturity.

good luck giants fans. the eli manning sour puss is yours to look at for the next 10 years!

I think it's still too early to judge Eli's locker room leadership. Don't forget that it wasn't until McNabb's 3rd or 4th year that he started being his own man.

i'm not judging eli's locker room leadership, i'm judging his on field demeanor and body language. even in don's first game, he had better presence than eli has now.

Here's the skinny: Peyton's a dick, Eli's a pussy. Both are talented, both have flaws. Dave the Bull" Barr wanted Eli over Don....no frigging way, son, no frigging way.

The Inquirer has a couple good articles on the Sixers today. As I have said from Day 1, King is the problem with that team. We have gone from "changing the culture" to changing nothing about this team, except for the draft and deep sixing some dead wood. While I have some hope, I just don't see how anything can realitically change much for this sloppy mess of a team....I do like keeping AI. If King can somehow convince a team to take Webber and take on some role players to compensate, that is about the only good thing that can happen. No good free agents left around.....King is the worst GM that I have ever seen in Philly and that is saying something. What a disgrace.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The Sixers Will Never Win a Championship with Allen Iverson on the Team. Period. So why keep him? Philly fans want a parade. If we just wanted to watch someone play entertaining B-ball, they could rent tapes of the Globe Trotters.
Bad GM or not. The ownership has to get someone in there to do what is needed, popular or not....

see, here's the thing. i can see peyton's talent, i always have. even as a freshman at tennesee you could see it. with eli, i've never seen it. i just haven't.

he did throw 24 TD passes last season and his rating was more than passable at 75 or so, but he just didn't pass the eye test to me. he misses too many open passes (as his 52% completion percentage would attest to), and too many of his passes are miles away from where he intended. i'm not talking about the occasional worm burner that don is always taking grief about, i'm talking about balls flying 5 feet over a receiver's head or 5 feet wide of the target.

Of course it took T Martin to beat Florida or win a National Championship, but who cares about big games?
