You had to see this coming a mile away. Hamels looks like a freight train right now. The best part is that he won't pitch scared, at least if the many reports I've read are based on facts. Will he take his lumps? Sure he will, but I love the fact that Gillick is looking toward the future.

The Phillies will have a very nice problem to deal with when Wolf gets healthy, especially if some of their other prospects continue to shine in the minors. I love the fact that their key position players are young, and the pitching pipeline looks promising.

They have a lot of work to do to catch up with the Mets (a damn good team), but it starts with pitching, and Hamels is another good step. I still think Gavin Floyd has a very high upside as a top of the rotation starter, Ryan Madson is well suited for an important relief role, and Brett Myers is inches from being an ace. Since all are 25 or younger, and home grown to boot, the Phillies may be looking at a seriously good run.

Forget about tonight's ass-kicking; it's all happening, hard charger. And you know how we roll.

i have no problem with last night's ass kicking (in fact, when i saw that the mets with glavine were only -105 against the phils with lidle i made some easy money on the game).
