some interesting stories today

- billy wagner is now claiming he wasn't a fan favorite. not quite sure where that one's coming from, i remember the city being all aflutter when they traded for him and there's no way in heck that *anyone* in this city told him they wished we still had mesa.

- jeremy bloom has a chance to become the most popular eagle ever. i'm not kidding about this. a) he's a low draft pick so anything he does is going to exceed expectations, b) he's white, c) he's little, and d) his dad a huge eagles fan so he's excited to be here.

- even though the birds had a good offseason, they couldn't close the deal on a few other moves that could have made it an unbelieveable offseason. not getting finneran made getting javon walker a possiblity, so i'm not complaining. actually getting walker would have been nice but realistically green bay wasn't going to trade him in conference.

- i wonder how many athletes have to manufacture adversity to keep themselves motivated? it seems to me the number is increasing or i am just more aware of it than i was before. tom gordon appears to be one of those guys. same mantra here as in new york. the media hates me. the fans hate me. yadda yadda yadda.

- next year's madden is going to have blocking! that's pretty neat. i may have to buy a game machine just to check that out. (link found on footballoutsiders.com)

What are the chances that Bloom's #11 is the hottest selling jersey in Philly this year....especially the pink jersies?

I'd think about buying one if I wasn't such a jinx with WR jerseys. Still have that Chris T. Jones jersey around here some where. . .

Amazing how the Eagles can go from a lousy off-season to a great one merely by picking up some guys that've never played a down in the NFL. While I never bought into the gloom before, likewise I think we need to temper our expectations until we have a better idea how the most important off-season development is truly playing out - the return to 100% of 5.

Likewise, we still don't know how the Fat Fock is going to beat our division rivals this year (2nd most important development).

true 'dat. everything hinges on the return of mcfranchise to elite qb status. i'm setting myself up for lots of potential disappointment here, but i believe and expect don will finish in the top 3 for nfl mvp this season.

At least we are counting on Donovan and not on Favre or Culpepper or Bledsoe, or god forbid Alex Smith or Eli Manning. Could you imagine our blogs in those cities..."ooh I hope Eli is not scared this year.." "I hope Alex doesn't fumble every snap", "maybe Brett will play back-up", "(southern twang) I hope that there, Bledsoe, doesn't take root and get in a fight with his new reciever"...

He will be back strong and hopefully that being the case, last year as a fluke. And can over-compensate for abysmal play-calling.

alas, the blogs in those cities could all end with "... but at least our team has won a superbowl..." (or an nfl championship within the last 45 years)

okay, i realize that this post had nothing to do with the phillies, but i need to take a second to celebrate the glory that was last night's mets game.
brett myers was clutch for most of the game and poor, sloppy aaron heilman's error put the ninth streak win on lock for the phils.
too bad wagner never made it out of the bullpen for his much deserved homecoming....maybe tonight.
go phils!

say what? you've got to appreciate the best win streak in 15 years for the phils.
if nothing else, it'll be sweet to see wagner's return to the city of brotherly shove.

Why are you talking about baseball? Don't you realize it's Eagles offseason?
