How About Them WRs?

I was noticing our WR during the Redskins game. Is it just me or are they collectively making 2-4 tough catches each game now? Maclin and Avant each had at least one good catch either in traffic or over the shoulder dancing down the sideline. Such a nice change of pace from a couple years back.

I would argue this is the Eagles key area of strength right now.

Agreed Phil. Such a shame that all those seasons when Mc5 was in his prime all of our WR SUCKED !!! We had a bunch of 2 & 3 guys playing as #1's. Then we got T.O nd saw what 5 could do with a stud. After a couple disappointing seasons with serious injuries - we had last year with DJax and Avant growing into a role + the Maclin pick-up. All of a sudden we're flush with quality rcvrs. Whodda thunk it ? Too bad we wasted all those years on that p.o.s. LJ. A quality TE is key for Mc5 -- He made Chad Smith an all pro ! And now look what he and Celek are doing together.

Thanks for keeping the blog going Phil.........nice work!

I wonder if they've just gotten lucky recently with DeSean, Maclin, and Avant. They've always drafted a lot of WR, but now they just seem to be hitting on all their picks. Did they change they're philosophy on who they draft? Have they gotten better at coaching them?

I don't know what the difference is, but for whatever reason they've got guys that are making TOUGH catches. And making them on a regular basis.

That and these guys seem to always be getting open. Well, Avant at least. Better play calling maybe?

Love the wideouts, Phil. Looks like the Eagles have really hit paydirt with this new crew. I think they also scored big with McCoy.

I'm hoping for the same sort of success with linemen and linebackers in the next draft.

With Kolb looking more than competent, I think the Eagles may be able to extend their run of excellent seasons for some time to come. Don't know if the Bowl is in their future, but at least they won't suck for a long time.

Wish they could win the Big One to take the monkey off their back...
