Okay, now is time for a reality check. I am cool with the Shawn Barber signing. He is an upgrade over Bullet. As a matter of fact, he was a monster here before he left. Dhani Jones also played poorly last year so I am more concerned with getting a SLB...who knows what the plan is, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are done upgrading at LB. Who's kidding who, Arrington is not/was not coming here. Especially on the heels of the TO debacle. He wants a ton of money. My suspicion is it's going to play out like this....LaCharles Bentley will be a Bird on Sunday morning. I suspect, also, that the Eagles will make a run at Hutchinson and try to retain Runyan. Garcia will be signed soon. Randle-El will be looked at, but will get overpaid by another team. The Eagles will probably get a serviceable veteran who has played in a West Coast Offense at WR. Mike Anderson will be contacted, but he, too, will go into a situation where he gets a chance to be the #1 back. A serviceable veteran may get snagged at RB, too. The Eagles will make an attempt at Kendrick Clancy or another rotation type tackle and there's a possibility to get that, too.
The draft is where they are going to dive into headfirst. The #1 pick is going to be the best DE, DT, or OL on the board. Tamba Hali looks like a real good fit, but don't be surprised if they get another stud OL....I am thinking the first pick will go DT/DE with an OT or OL taken in the second round. Reid believes in beefing up these lines and I am in total concurrence with this. Bummed that I have to wait till Sunday though.
I'd be willing to bet the Eagles 1st draft pick is not a lineman. The invested heavily in those positions in last year's draft and look to do the same in free agency this year. My bet is either a LB or TE.
I haven't been researching this, so I'll ask. What's our kicking situation going to be this year?
- Joe
Would still be Akers and Johnson who should be healthy this year.
Phil, I'll take your bet and raise you the next 3 picks....it WILL NOT be a RB....if that stud TE from Maryland is there, that's a possibility, but that is a stretch. I would love to lose that bet but I'm not going to....Pete, input please.
Also, it will be Akers and Johnson if healthy. The Eagles also signed Reggie Hodges again.
My bad, you said LB....I doubt that too. AJ Hawk will not be there at that pick and Chad Greenway is not worth a #1 IMHO. Don't be surprised to see Carpenter as a possible 2nd or 3rd round pick.
