Okay, quick change of pace.....what is the criteria to be a NFL head coach anymore? I just read that Oakland is about to make an offer to Steve Sarkisian, who is a 32-year-old USC quarterbacks coach...you go from QB coach at the college level to a pro head coach? That is about the biggest jump that I ever saw...that is why the Raiders suck. Kooky old man and decisions like this....and Miami...Chan Gailey the head coach...come on, all that dude is is an NFL assistant, not NFL head, not college head coach...NFL assistant...imagine if we carted that out in Philly....boy I am glad that we have Big Red.

interesting to note, though, that big red came to us as an NFL QB coach with no previous head coaching or coordinator experience.

as someone with semi-warm feelings about the raiders, i'm glad they went for a young energetic guy rather than a retread like gailey.

Yes, I did think of that....however, at least Big Red was highly regarded by Holmgren, on a respected coaching staff with many well-respected head coaches ahead of him, and had some experience (age) at both the college and pro-level...and Holmgren said he was definitely good enough to have been a coordinator...Sarkisian, on the other hand, currently isn't even a coordinator at the college level..and is only 32....the name rings a bell, so he may have actually been an NFL back-up QB...plus Reid has a thick mustache and is heavy. That's 2 plusses in my book.

Okay, it's a little clearer to me now...Sarkisian was a BYU QB...he was Raiders QB coach in 2004 and is currently QB coach/asst. Head Coach with Southern Cal. Come to think of it, I would much rather have a guy like this than a retread like Chan Gailey, or Norv Turner, or Jim Fassel or Denny Green or Dom Capers or Dan Henning or Kevin Gilbride or Ray Handley or Terry Robiskie or Mike Sherman or Chris Palmer

Why the hell would you have semi-warm feelings about the Raiders ??
Thye beat the Eagles in the '80 SB and rolled over like dead dogs vs Tampa Bay in the year that didn't happen. Other than Bo Jackson, what is/was there EVER to like about da raiders ??
