Reminder of How PSU Got Jobbed

this pisses me off. a reminder of how the 94 penn state team, you know, the one that went undefeated yet didn't win a national championship and the best college football team i have ever seen, got jobbed in the polls.

it's appropriate that espn lists that team as one of their top ten college teams ever, but serves as more proof that we need a playoff system in college football instead of relying on stupid redneck poll voters.

This still haunts me. That year solidified my interest in football forever. It also jaded me forever to the current system of ranking. Ridiculous.

Since my college didn't have a football program, yawn.

The college football gods are entirely different from the NFL ones. If you think I'm kidding, look at Doug Flutie or Kijana Carter's careers. Would be like me thumbing my nose at the Arena league football gods.

The Arena League football gods are vengeful, angry gods, Phil.

Do not defy them, or surely they shall strike you down, even as they struck down your beloved Las Vegas Outlaws.

That was the XFL, Dirty, not the AFL. XFL gods are more like tree spirits than real Greek or Viking ones. Yeesh. Like anyone would actually believe in an XFL god. (Warning: comments about to be hijacked by wrestling references!)

Yea, verily. The AFL gods did see the XFL, and did view it with great displeasure, being a heretical, blasphemous, idolatrous impingement upon the season rightfully held holy for short fields, iron-man players and live field goals.

In their righteous anger, they did smite the evildoers, and did visit upon the high priest of such blasphemy a series of plagues, including being out-performed in the stock market by Martha Stewart, the loss of a trademark to a bunch of eco-freaks and Congressional RICO investigations involving steroid abuse.

Surely the righteous wrath of the AFL gods is just and terrible!
