Monday Links

- garry cobb is all over lj smith (and rightly so). lj was the only real negative yesterday. i'd really like to see what celek could do with the first team.

No more excuses from L.J. It's put up or shut up time for Mr. Smith. Do you hear me, L.J?

Tell me L.J. why are your carrying this ball with one hand? Get it together dude.
amen!

- holy moly. dallas opens up as a 7 point favorite for the monday night game. very strange line.

- rick gosselin points out something interesting in his column today that i think helps to explain why mcnabb is looking sharp so far this year, and why he wasn't as sharp the last couple of seasons

Last off-season was his first since 2004 that he has not had to rehabilitate an injury. That allowed him to focus on his game, not his body, and club
insiders said McNabb delivered his best training camp in years.
- i'd forgotten that the rams drafted howie long's son this year. except for a couple of times when he made don step up into the pocket, he had no impact on the game.

7 point spread seems about right though I'd have put it at maybe +5. That's +4 on a neutral field. Factor in Dallas is a league favorite for SB and Philly coming off an 8-8 year. DAL won by 18 on the road vs. a CLE team that's supposed to be decent, while PHI blew out a team at home that no one thinks will do anything.

This site's funny. Iggles play good and there's virtually no comments. If they play bad, it's beach and moan with 10 posts a day for 6 straight days.

not a surprise, it's human nature unfortunately. anger and fear drive behavior much more strongly than happiness.

it's a big reason why wip has taken the jackass approach to sports radio. *ssholio cataldi gets good ratings because he keeps people fired up and complaining.

I actually did post some minor concerns on the last post-the drops by TE and DB. If they play well, I always say they play well. If they play poorly and make lots of stupid mental errors, then I get on them. They played nearly perfectly on Sunday-what can you say. I have been singing the praises of Don all pre season and expressing concern about DE and WR. The DE weren't really needed and the WR were great against an awful secondary. I am happy they won, they should've won. This week and next week will tell us a lot more about who this team is and what we can expect. 1-1 with two well-layed games would be great. 0-2 with 2 nail biters would be OK. Being blown out twice would be very bad. i don't think that is going to happen.

P.S. Phil there was zero traffic on this site for nearly 4 months. Aside from the occasional post from me and you, once in a while Joe and Cap, and my bro, it'/s been dead. Maybe it's just that folks have gotten out of the habit of checking this, assuming it was dead. Thankfully TMG is back in force so let's hear it folks.

P.S. TMG, it isn't anger and fear that prompt a lot of frustration. I think you occasionally wrongly assume that other folks don't know what they're talking about when viewing football and mistake passion and concern for dislike. I have said it repeatedly that I bleed green. When they play well, my week goes better-like this week. But that doesn't mean that venting a little spleen at the same old issues isn't cathartic. It feels good to say it and move on...too bad the same mistakes are often repeated and continual head scratching and second guessing follows.

bumble i don't think i've ever written or even implied that you don't bleed green. we've had our share of disagreements but it's always borne out of passion for the team.

my statement was more about general human nature (using wip as an example) than any specific topic or person on this site.
